A useful way to think about the work

Start with the work, not the tool.

Three worked examples of how a team sorts a task with AIKE™: what to automate, where to innovate, what to keep with people, and what to stop doing. Pick one and walk through it.

Leadership information

Board reporting

Assemble information from approved management reports and prepare a clear view of performance, open questions and decisions needed.

Automate

Routine collation from an agreed, access-controlled source set. Do not automate interpretation, forecasts or board recommendations.

Innovate

Group approved source material by topic. Draft a narrative and flag movements or gaps for review. Keep references to the source beside each drafted point.

Keep

Stays with a person: finance lead. Check source completeness, figures, assumptions and material changes. The authorised person owns the final pack and every recommendation.

Eliminate

Re-keying figures that already sit in the approved report.

What to measure

Time to prepare and check the pack · corrections against source data · completeness of required commentary · whether readers can locate the evidence behind a point.

Record a baseline first. Set acceptable quality and error thresholds with the people accountable for the report; do not assume speed alone is success.

Customer operations

Customer-service escalation

Help a service team identify what needs attention, while protecting the customer's context and the judgement needed to respond well.

Automate

Route clear, low-risk categories using agreed rules after testing. Do not auto-close complaints or send unreviewed promises, refunds or sensitive replies.

Innovate

Summarise the case history and retrieve relevant approved guidance. Suggest a route and draft a response for an agent to review. Highlight missing facts rather than fill them in.

Keep

Stays with a person: trained service agent. A person handles vulnerability, safety concerns, legal threats, complaints and ambiguous cases. The agent checks policy, context and tone before a response is sent.

Eliminate

Repeatedly searching the same case history for details already gathered.

What to measure

Correct routing · missed escalations · policy and response corrections · resolution quality · handling time including review and rework.

Agree what counts as a critical miss. Sample cases with service owners before expanding any automated route.

Sales and delivery operations

Quote to order

Turn a customer request into a complete, reviewable quote, then make sure an approved commitment is recorded correctly.

Automate

Check required fields and prepare a draft record for review. Create or release an order only after validation and an authorised approval.

Innovate

Extract requested items, quantities and delivery requirements from an approved brief. Draft a quote using current, approved product and terms information. Flag missing details, mismatches and unusual requests.

Keep

Stays with a person: authorised commercial owner. A person confirms scope, pricing, margin, capacity, terms and exceptions. No quote becomes a customer commitment and no order is released without the required approval.

Eliminate

Re-entering approved quote details into an order record by hand.

What to measure

Time from complete request to approved quote · quote completeness · pricing or terms corrections · avoidable rework · order-entry accuracy.

Compare like with like and include checking time. Set quality limits and define which exceptions must always return to a person.
